On May 1, the first pile foundation of the Donghe Grand Bridge on the Nanjiang-Santai (Zhongjiang) Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the "Nansan Expressway") was successfully poured. This is the first pile foundation completed along the entire project, marking that the Donghe Grand Bridge, a controlling project, has officially entered the main construction stage.

The Donghe Grand Bridge is located in Yunfeng Town, Cangxi County, Guangyuan City, with a total length of 1,332.8 meters. The main bridge adopts a (98+180+98)-meter continuous rigid-frame structure, and the tallest pier reaches 86.2 meters. Situated in a river beach area, the bridge faces multiple challenges such as deep-water construction, complex strata, and high technical standards, making it the "choke point" project among the key and difficult undertakings along the entire Nansan Expressway.

The Nansan Expressway starts in Nanjiang County, Bazhong City, passes through Wangcang County and Cangxi County of Guangyuan City, Langzhong City and Nanbu County of Nanchong City, and Yanting County and Santai County of Mianyang City, and ends in Zhongjiang County, Deyang City. The route has a total length of 270 kilometers, with an estimated investment of 47.284 billion yuan. The project broke ground in March this year, with a 64.5-kilometer section within Cangxi and a planned investment of 10.736 billion yuan.

It is understood that once the Nansan Expressway is completed and opened to traffic, it will connect five cities and eight counties (county-level cities) — Bazhong, Guangyuan, Nanchong, Mianyang, and Deyang — significantly improving the transportation infrastructure conditions in the old revolutionary base areas, enhancing the traffic capacity of the regional road network, and further strengthening the radiating role of the Chengdu Plain Economic Zone. As the "choke point" project of the entire line, the Donghe Grand Bridge will effectively break through the lateral transportation bottleneck in northeastern Sichuan, boost the development of tourism resources and the outward shipment of specialty agricultural products along the route, and inject strong momentum into rural revitalization and coordinated regional development.
