On May 6, as the rotary drilling rig roared into operation, the first pile foundation of the TY-1 section of the Tianchang-Yizheng section of the G9904 Nanjing Metropolitan Area Ring Expressway (referred to as the "Tianyi Expressway"), constructed by the Third Engineering Company of China Railway No. 10 Engineering Group, was successfully drilled, marking that the main works of the project have officially entered the substantive construction stage.

The Tianyi Expressway has a total length of 17.2 kilometers. The route starts from Leizhuang Village, Renheji Town, Tianchang City, Anhui Province, and ends at Huangqiao Village, Jinji Town (at the Anhui-Jiangsu provincial boundary). It is built to a two-way, six-lane standard with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The section undertaken by China Railway No. 10 Engineering Group has a main line about 6.5 kilometers long, and its main construction content covers subgrade, pavement, bridges, culverts, etc. A total of 8 bridges are arranged within the section, including 1 extra-large bridge, 4 ramp bridges, and 3 branch line overpass bridges, with a total of 578 bored cast-in-place piles for the bridge works. The first pile drilled this time is for a pier of the extra-large bridge crossing the Xinyang Expressway, with a designed pile diameter of 1.5 meters and a pile length of 32 meters, constructed using the rotary drilling process.

Since the launch of the project, the Third Engineering Company of China Railway No. 10 Engineering Group has attached great importance to it. Company leaders led teams to conduct on-site surveys and planning, and the project team proactively coordinated with the owner and relevant units along the route, efficiently completing land acquisition, demolition, and site leveling, while advancing the construction of temporary facilities in parallel,successfully completing the acceptance and filing of the site laboratory and steel reinforcement processing yard,thus laying a solid foundationfor the full-scale rollout of the project.

To ensure the smooth drilling of the first pile, the project team planned ahead and made meticulous arrangements. Before commencement, systematic pre-job training was organized for all management and operating personnel focusing on construction plans, quality control, and work safety; in accordance with the standardization manual, construction parameters and process flows were reviewed item by item to ensure that each procedure was precise and controllable; at the same time, a dual re-verification access mechanism for mechanical equipment and raw materials was strictly implemented, with strict control at the quality source, providing a solid guarantee for the successful drilling of the first pile.

At present, the construction access road for the project has been fully connected, and the filling of the subgrade test section and the site leveling of the precast beam yard are being advanced in an orderly manner. All participating employees of China Railway No. 10 Engineering Group will take the drilling of the first pile as an opportunity to continuously optimize construction organization, firmly grasp key procedures, strengthen safety control, and make every effort to accelerate project construction and improve efficiency.

The Tianyi Expressway is an important part of the national highway network plan and a key section of the newly added "connecting line" in the Anhui Province expressway network plan—the Jinhu-Yizheng Expressway. After the project is completed, it will further open up the major transportation artery between Anhui and Jiangsu provinces, improve regional traffic efficiency, press the "accelerator" for Tianchang City to deeply integrate into the Nanjing Metropolitan Area, and inject new momentum into the high-quality economic and social development of the Nanjing Metropolitan Area.
