During the May Day holiday, machinery roared along the Guangxi section of the newly built Hepu-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway (hereinafter referred to as the He-Zhan High-Speed Railway), where nearly 2,000 builders stayed at the construction front line, practicing the spirit of labor through solid work and "keeping the momentum going without pause" to advance railway construction in Guangxi.

During the holiday period, the assembly of the bridge erection machine at the Beihai Girder Fabrication Yard—the largest girder yard in the Guangxi section of the He-Zhan High-Speed Railway—was being intensively pushed forward. In strict accordance with assembly procedures and technical specifications, workers carried out component lifting, bolt tightening, system commissioning and other processes in an orderly and efficient manner, preparing for the upcoming box girder erection. It is reported that the Beihai Girder Fabrication Yard is responsible for the prefabrication and erection of 688 simply supported box girders. In addition to the bridge erection machine assembly, rebar production, formwork fabrication, tensioning tests and other operations will also proceed in an orderly manner during the holiday.

"During the May Day holiday, we will launch a general offensive aimed at achieving the milestone of erecting the first box girder after the holiday," said Zhao Yanguo, head of the Beihai Girder Fabrication Yard of the He-Zhan High-Speed Railway under China Railway 16th Bureau Group. "All 64 cadres and employees at our Beihai Girder Fabrication Yard are on duty and leading shifts throughout the process to ensure completion of the prefabrication of 10 box girders. At the same time, we are organizing a full-process rehearsal covering the performance of the bridge erection machine, transport route planning, and box girder erection techniques, to ensure that the first box girder is successfully erected on the first attempt after the holiday," Zhao Yanguo said.

At the construction site of the 48-meter cast-in-place continuous girder of the Nankang East Main Canal Grand Bridge on the He-Zhan High-Speed Railway, construction activities including girder formwork installation, rebar tying, and pile cap and pier body works were also proceeding intensively. Technical personnel moved back and forth, verifying key parameters such as rebar spacing and the stability of the support system one by one, laying the foundation for the subsequent one-time smooth concrete pouring.

"During the May Day holiday, nearly 2,000 builders at 41 work sites along the entire Guangxi section of the He-Zhan High-Speed Railway are staying at their posts. It is expected that construction will be completed for 230 bridge pile foundations, 32 bridge piers, 4 segments of continuous girders, and 30,000 cubic meters of subgrade earth and rock works. We will strengthen safety and quality control and accelerate the construction of the Guangxi section of the He-Zhan High-Speed Railway," said Tang Ling, senior engineer at the He-Zhan High-Speed Railway Construction Command of Yungui Railway Guangxi Company.

The main line of the He-Zhan High-Speed Railway is about 139 kilometers long, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is an important component of the Baoji (Yinchuan)-Haikou Corridor and the Coastal Corridor in China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. Up to now, all main-line bridges in the Guangxi section of the He-Zhan High-Speed Railway have started construction, with 8,063 bridge pile foundations completed, 373 bridge piers built, and 410,000 cubic meters of subgrade earth and rock works completed. The project is expected to be completed and open to traffic in 2028, which is of great significance for expanding the railway transport capacity along the Guangxi coast, optimizing and improving the regional railway network layout, and promoting the development of the Beibu Gulf urban agglomeration.
