Recently, at the construction site of the Jinan Ring Expressway reconstruction and expansion project, the SWDM520E extended-range electric rotary drilling rig independently developed by Sunward Intelligent became the "star equipment" for the project's pile foundation construction. With its efficient, green, and stable construction performance, the equipment has won unanimous recognition from the project owner.

The project site has access to the power grid, allowing the equipment to operate in plug-in mode for zero-emission operation, while the extended-range mode provides reliable endurance support for relocation construction or areas with inconvenient grid access.

This construction involves pile foundation work with a hole diameter of 1.6 meters and a hole depth of 20 to 25 meters, under complex geological conditions: 0 to 9 meters is backfill soil, and below 9 meters is hard moderately weathered granite. Facing multiple challenges such as easy hole collapse in the backfill section and high rock hardness, the SWDM520E demonstrated excellent drilling capability. The hole-forming time for a single pile is only 20 hours, and the drilling efficiency is significantly better than similar equipment, effectively ensuring the project schedule. The on-site operator reported: "The equipment has abundant power and stable control, especially smooth drilling in the rock-entry section, and its overall performance is outstanding."

As a multi-mode electric rotary drilling rig, the SWDM520E is equipped with three power modes: plug-in, extended-range, and pure electric, allowing flexible adaptation to different construction scenarios. In pure electric mode, its energy utilization efficiency is more than 50% higher than that of traditional fuel rotary drilling, and energy consumption costs are reduced by 70%–80%. It is worth mentioning that the equipment is also equipped with an advanced energy recovery system, which can convert potential energy into electrical energy during lowering operations, with a recovery efficiency of over 70%.

The SWDM520E is one of the important achievements of Sunward Intelligent's electrification of rotary drilling rigs. Since its launch, it has been tested in actual projects such as the Hangzhou Bay Bridge and the Hannan Yangtze River Bridge, with significant economic and environmental benefits. At present, Sunward Intelligent has centrally released a number of new electric products, and a batch of extended-range rotary drilling rigs, including the world's largest model SWDM620E, are successively heading to various parts of the country to support infrastructure construction.
