On April 17, with the completion of the final truckload of concrete pouring, pile foundation construction was fully completed for the Cultural and Creative Park Urban Renewal Unit Project in Shatou Subdistrict, Futian District, Shenzhen.

Carrying out deep foundation pit operations in the bustling central area of Futian is like "doing sculpture in a china shop"—the difficulty and challenges are self-evident. The project required the completion of nearly a thousand engineering piles of various types, and it is adjacent to subway lines and existing buildings, imposing near-rigorous requirements on settlement control, construction precision, and environmental impact control. This underground-phase challenge is precisely the first common problem that all urban renewal projects in high-density core areas must face.
"What we face is not only a technical issue, but also a test of the city's comprehensive management capabilities," said Hong Jin, project manager of the Futian Cultural and Creative Park project at the South China Company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau. As the first "urban renewal + equity transfer" project and the first core urban area development project implemented by the China Construction system in Shenzhen, the Cultural and Creative Park project team innovatively applied a self-developed intelligent construction management platform to carry out digital control over the entire pile foundation construction process, and adopted refined "one pile, one strategy" construction. Ultimately, under complex conditions, the project achieved the construction goals of "zero accidents, zero hidden dangers, and high quality." This has accumulated valuable "Futian experience" for safe and efficient underground construction in similar sensitive urban environments.
According to the plan, the Futian Cultural and Creative Park project is far more than a single supplement to residential functions; it is a composite urban unit aimed at achieving "spatial reshaping, functional reconstruction, and vitality injection." The project will intensively build affordable housing, community commerce, cultural activity stations, health service centers, and public green spaces, striving to create a high-quality composite community with a balance between work and residence, convenient services, and humanistic care. Through renewal, the Cultural and Creative Park project will systematically address the problems faced by central urban areas, such as high living costs, insufficient public space, and outdated industrial functions, and explore a new path to optimize resource allocation and enhance urban capacity through spatial restructuring. After completion, the project will significantly enhance the industrial carrying capacity and talent attractiveness of the Futian central area.
The Cultural and Creative Park Urban Renewal Unit Project in Shatou Subdistrict, Futian District, is located at the intersection of Xinzhou Road and Fuqiang Road in Shatou Subdistrict in the core area of Futian, with a total construction area of 290,000 square meters and a site area of 25,700 square meters. Next, the project will fully shift to the above-ground main structure construction phase and is expected to be completed on December 10, 2028. At present, many large and medium-sized cities in China are entering a new stage of development dominated by stock renewal. The entire process exploration of the Futian Cultural and Creative Park project—from model innovation and technical breakthroughs to a people's livelihood orientation—provides valuable practice for major cities across the country in advancing urban renewal and building livable, resilient, and smart modern cities.
