Spring is the time for vigorous progress, and project construction is surging ahead. As an important component of National Expressway G6512 from Xiushan to Congjiang and the core project of the Tongren Ring Expressway, the Songtao–Wanshan Expressway completed an investment of 500 million yuan in the first quarter, with construction workers racing against the schedule while ensuring project quality.

Stepping onto the construction site of the Songwan Expressway project, one is greeted by a scene of bustling activity. Construction machinery roars as it operates, engineering vehicles shuttle back and forth, and work at each operation area is proceeding in an orderly manner according to the construction plan.

Hou Jianwei, work area chief of Work Area 2, Section 2 of the Songwan Expressway, said that since the start of construction, the work area has completed more than 300,000 cubic meters of earth and rock excavation and 140,000 cubic meters of filling, and has built 3 culverts; pile foundation construction is underway at Shangmulin No. 2 Bridge, the No. 1 material yard has been completed and put into operation, the beam yard is 80% complete, open-cut tunnel and arch cover construction has begun at the tunnel portal, and the inclined shaft crew has entered the site to prepare for tunnel excavation.

The Songwan Expressway has a total route length of 37.039 kilometers and is being built to a two-way, four-lane expressway standard, with an estimated total investment of 7.033 billion yuan. "As of now, the project has completed a cumulative investment of 1.773 billion yuan, accounting for 25.2% of the total investment plan, and the overall project image progress has reached 18.3%. Main works such as subgrade and bridges are advancing steadily according to schedule," introduced Li Yong, deputy general manager of the Songwan Project Company. At present, the project is focused on key construction items such as the Jinjiang Grand Bridge and the Tongren East Tunnel, which are controlling works for the entire line.

Once the project is completed, it will open up a longitudinal transportation corridor between Tongren and the Wuling Mountain region, close the loop of the Tongren Ring Expressway network, further improve the regional transportation network, significantly enhance regional traffic efficiency, provide transportation support for industrial development and livelihood improvement along the route, and help promote high-quality economic and social development in Tongren.
