Spring is gradually deepening, and it is the golden period for project construction. From the new Yantai South Station hub to the urban expressway, and on to the reconstruction and expansion site of the Yantai-Penglai section of the Rongcheng-Wuhai Expressway, a race against time is unfolding everywhere.

In the first quarter, the city's key transportation projects advanced steadily, with more than 20 new and continued projects accelerating construction. A modern transportation network that is smooth internally, connected externally, and three-dimensionally accessible is rapidly moving from blueprint to reality.
Rebar tying for the passenger tunnel ceiling is entering its final stage; pile foundation construction is basically complete, with pouring operations underway; and the pier columns of the drop-off platform are being poured successively. The main structure construction of the Yantai South Station Comprehensive Transportation Hub Project is progressing steadily. The long-distance bus station and the bus station are scheduled to be fully topped out in September. The overall project is scheduled for completion on June 30, 2027. By then, Yantai South Station will become a true urban gateway hub.
Along the Yantai-Penglai reconstruction and expansion project of the Rongcheng-Wuhai Expressway, scenes of bustling activity are everywhere. At present, two sections of the project have opened to traffic, with a cumulative eight-lane section of about 17 kilometers.
According to reports, the Yantai-Penglai reconstruction and expansion project of the Rongcheng-Wuhai Expressway has a total length of 61.2 kilometers and is being reconstructed and expanded to the standard of a two-way, eight-lane expressway with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The route passes through six districts of Yantai: High-tech Zone, Laishan District, Zhifu District, Fushan District, Huang-Bohai New Area, and Penglai District, ending at the Penglai hub interchange; it passes through four hubs: Yantai hub (Zhengezhuang), Dayangjia hub, Bajiao interchange hub, and Penglai hub; and has six toll stations: Yantai, Laishan, Dujiatuan, Dongting, Chongyi, and Guxian. After the project is completed, it will further strengthen the rapid connection between Yantai's urban area and Penglai International Airport, improve Yantai's three-dimensional transportation network, and make commuting more smooth for residents.
Inside the Daiwangshan Tunnel of the 2.9-kilometer-long Tashan North Road Expressway, construction workers are carrying out decoration, and the tunnel is expected to open to traffic within the year. On August 19 last year, the Daiwangshan section tunnel achieved double-line breakthrough, becoming the first tunnel in Yantai's expressway projects to achieve double-line breakthrough, nearly two months ahead of the scheduled construction period.
Tunnel work is carried out 24 hours a day without interruption, with all processes advanced in overlapping sequence. The Daiwangshan Tunnel starts at Shanhai Road in Zhifu District and ends at Guanhai Road in Laishan District. It has two main-line tunnels, one ramp tunnel, and multiple pedestrian and vehicular passages. It is a key hub connecting the two major urban arterial roads of Guanhai Road and Shanhai Road and is designed as two-way, six-lane.
This tunnel section is an important part of the "one horizontal, two vertical" urban expressway network in Yantai. Once completed, it will thoroughly open up the rapid transit corridor between Guanhai Road and Shanhai Road and extend westward to connect the Tashan and Zhenshan section tunnels and the Hongqi Expressway. The reporter learned from the Municipal Transportation Bureau that after the Daiwangshan Tunnel is completed, it will bring two major changes to residents' travel: it will further increase traffic connections between Shanhai Road and Guanhai Road, making it more convenient for residents of the eastern coastal area to drive from the Daiwangshan Tunnel into the Shanhai Road Expressway, greatly improving travel efficiency; and it will further improve the urban expressway network. In the future, residents traveling from Laishan District to Zhifu District, the Development Zone, and Fushan District can directly enter the "one horizontal, two vertical" expressway network from Guanhai Road, making cross-district travel more convenient and efficient.
