On April 9, accompanied by the roar of rotary drilling rigs, the first pile foundation of the Wangjiaqiao Town Grand Bridge in the Songzi section of the Yichang–Changde High-Speed Railway was officially drilled, marking that this contract section has formally entered the main construction stage.
As an important railway trunk line connecting Yichang, Hubei and Changde, Hunan, the Yichang–Changde High-Speed Railway is a key transportation project for improving the regional railway network layout and promoting economic interconnection between Hubei and Hunan provinces. Among them, the Wangjiaqiao Town Grand Bridge is one of the key control projects of the Songzi section of the Yichang–Changde High-Speed Railway. The smooth drilling of the first pile foundation kicked off the main construction of the bridge.
"What is being constructed now is No. 2 pile foundation of Pier 51. This pier is the main pier of the 32+48+32 m continuous girder, with a pile diameter of 1 m and a pile length of 26.6 m. This is the first pile foundation of Contract Section 3 of the Hubei section of the Yichang–Changde Railway, marking that the project has officially entered the main construction stage," introduced Zhang Wei, technical supervisor of the First Sub-division of the Hubei Section Project Department of the Yichang–Changde High-Speed Railway, China Railway Shanghai Engineering Bureau.
To ensure the smooth construction of the first pile, the project construction team planned ahead and made careful preparations, completing various preliminary tasks such as site leveling, debugging and calibration of construction equipment, incoming inspection of various building materials, and safety technical training and briefings. During construction, the contractor strictly followed railway engineering construction specifications and quality control standards, adopted advanced rotary drilling technology, and arranged professional technical personnel for full-process on-site supervision, controlling key links such as drilling accuracy and mud parameters in real time, and making every effort to ensure both construction safety and quality meet standards.
"This year, we will mainly complete the construction of structures such as subgrade earthwork, CFG piles, threaded piles, and bridge pile foundations. All project participants will seize the golden construction period, go all out to accelerate the project construction progress, and ensure the completion of the annual targets," said Wang Shibin, Party branch secretary of the Hubei Section Project Department of the Yichang–Changde High-Speed Railway, China Railway Shanghai Engineering Bureau.
