On December 31, 2025, the Qingdao Laoshan District Urban Air Terminal project, undertaken by CCCC First Highway Engineering Group, saw its foundation pit works successfully reach the bottom after all personnel worked day and night for several consecutive months, completing all foundation pit earthwork excavation and support works (excluding tower over-excavation and replacement). This successfully fulfilled the owner's phased milestone target for 2025, laying a solid foundation for the 2026 start and the main structure construction.

At the outset of construction, the greatest challenge for the foundation pit works stemmed from the special geographical location. The project is adjacent to Zhangcun River, with high groundwater levels and abundant water. How to effectively control groundwater during excavation and ensure the safety and stability of the foundation pit was the key factor in project construction. The project Party branch gave full play to Party building leadership, establishing a dual safeguard mechanism of "project Party branch + technical task force," formulating a practical quality assurance plan for the waterproof curtain, with Party members and technical personnel joining work teams to resolve complex problems encountered during construction throughout the process. Dewatering wells were installed within the pit to continuously keep the water level in the work area below the excavation surface. Through the monitoring system, the surrounding environment and foundation pit support were safeguarded, providing strong technical support for the smooth progress of foundation pit excavation under complex geological conditions in the water-rich area.

With the foundation pit works reaching the bottom in stages, the project will shift on a large scale to the cushion layer, anti-floating anchor and raft construction stages. The project department will continue to uphold Party building leadership, with high standards and strict requirements, to fully advance subsequent project construction and ensure the timely completion and commissioning of this important urban transportation hub supporting project.
