On January 5, the Changsha Olympic Sports Center, a future landmark carrying the dream of the 16th National Games in 2029, is going all out in its final sprint.

Passing through the strictly ordered project gate, a massive panoramic construction view leaps into sight. A vast "steel forest" unfolds, with dozens of tower cranes extending their long arms like giants, continuously tracing arcs in the air; engineering vehicles shuttling back and forth play a powerful symphony of construction.

As a key construction project in Hunan Province, the Changsha Olympic Sports Center is a major traction-driven industrial project for advancing Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan integration and the development of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan metropolitan area. It includes a stadium with about 65,000 seats, a gymnasium with 18,000 seats, a natatorium with 4,000 seats, and related supporting ancillary facilities. The project is being built by Changsha Urban Development Group Co., Ltd. and constructed by a consortium including China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd. Once completed, it will be put into use as the main venue of the 16th National Games in 2029. It will be a landmark building of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan cities and the largest and most modern comprehensive sports facility in Hunan.

At present, the project is in the stage of laying the foundation for the overall preliminary works.

During the New Year's Day holiday, more than 180 construction workers were deployed on site, covering multiple trades such as pile foundation workers, equipment operators, and rebar workers, equipped with more than 50 machines including excavators and bulldozers, going all out to meet the milestone of completing the pile foundation works.Starting in 2026, the Changsha Olympic Sports Center will launch construction of the stadium cluster. After the pile foundation works are completed, earthwork excavation, foundation construction, and basement structural operations will be comprehensively advanced, striving to achieve topping-out of the concrete structure within the year and simultaneously launching the steel structure installation works.
