On November 28 local time, the commercial operation ceremony of the 600 MW Monsoon Mountain Wind Power Project in Laos, contracted by Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), was grandly held in Vientiane, Laos. Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce Malaithong Kommasith, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Laos Li Xizhen, Managing Director of Monsoon Wind Power Co., Ltd. Nat, General Manager of POWERCHINA Asia-Pacific Regional Headquarters Zhou Jiayi, and Deputy General Manager of Huadong Engineering Corporation Wu Shidong attended the ceremony.

As Laos' first wind power project, the largest single wind power project in Southeast Asia, and Asia's first cross-border power transmission renewable energy project, the Monsoon Wind Power Project faced a series of challenges during construction, including complex terrain, variable seasons, and great difficulty in cross-border industrial chain coordination. The project is located in the mountains of southern Laos, where transport routes are winding and narrow, and the 84-meter extra-long blades needed to be transported across China, Thailand, and Laos. Part of the project area lies in ecologically sensitive zones with high environmental protection requirements. Local grid infrastructure is weak, requiring the simultaneous construction of booster stations and cross-border transmission lines to meet full-capacity power delivery needs. Facing these arduous tasks, the POWERCHINA project team continuously strengthened overall scheduling, optimized construction organization, and improved cross-border coordination efficiency, ultimately achieving full-capacity commissioning through unremitting efforts.

As a key project of regional green energy cooperation, the Monsoon Wind Power Project will steadily deliver clean electricity to the Vietnamese grid. Its successful commissioning provides crucial support for Laos' goal of becoming the "battery of Southeast Asia" and marks a solid step forward in deepening regional clean energy connectivity. POWERCHINA will continue to carry forward a rigorous and meticulous spirit and the determination to overcome difficulties, adhere to high standards and high quality, and steadily advance subsequent operation and management work to ensure the project's long-term safe, stable, and efficient operation.

Representatives of the owner and financiers, as well as relevant personnel from POWERCHINA Asia-Pacific Regional Headquarters, the POWERCHINA Laos Representative Office, Huadong Engineering Corporation, and Sinohydro Bureau 10 Co., Ltd., participated in the event.
