At 17:00 on November 29, Unit 1 of the Huaneng Yantai Power Plant 2x9F-class heavy-duty gas turbine project, constructed by Shandong Electric Power Construction No. 1 Company under Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), successfully passed the 168-hour full-load trial operation, successfully generating Yantai City's first kilowatt-hour of "gas power," providing strong support for Yantai's efforts to build a national zero-carbon industrial demonstration zone and a national carbon peak pilot city.

The Huaneng Yantai Power Plant 2x9F-class heavy-duty gas turbine project is one of Shandong Province's first batch of heavy-duty gas turbine projects, Yantai City's first heavy-duty gas turbine project, and a demonstration project for heavy-duty gas turbine units under Shandong Province's 14th Five-Year Plan. The project is located in Fushan District, Yantai City, with a planned total installed capacity of 980 MW, of which Unit 1 has a rated installed capacity of 490 MW. The project's core equipment adopts the Siemens SGT5-4000F gas turbine imported from Germany, paired with gas-steam combined cycle technology, achieving a combined cycle efficiency of up to 61%, which is at the international leading level and offers the advantages of both high efficiency and low emissions.

After the project is put into operation, its annual power generation will stably reach 1.47 billion kWh, saving 170,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 460,000 tons each year. It will effectively enhance Yantai City's heating and power supply support capacity, and is of great significance for promoting the consumption of new energy in the region, supporting industrial development, ensuring the stable operation of the power grid, and improving the ecological environment. It will also make new and greater contributions to Shandong Province's efforts to accelerate the building of a strong province of socialist modernization in the new era, and to Yantai City's efforts to build a national zero-carbon industrial demonstration zone and a national carbon peak pilot city.
