On November 25, the 300 MW wind power project in Bairin Right Banner undertaken by PowerChina Chengdu Engineering Corporation successfully achieved its first grid-connected power generation, marking the project's official entry into the commissioning and operation stage and adding another important achievement to the national large-scale wind and photovoltaic base construction in desert, gobi, and wasteland areas.
The project is a core component of the Huaneng Chifeng 2-million-kW wind-solar-storage multi-energy complementary integrated + desert governance base. It has been included in the national third batch of large-scale wind power base project lists focusing on desert, gobi, and wasteland areas, and is the first project in the base to achieve grid-connected power generation. The project adopts wind turbine units with a single-unit capacity of 10 MW and a rotor diameter of 230 meters, making it the wind farm with the largest single-unit capacity among the projects put into operation by Chengdu Engineering Corporation. During construction, the project team overcame complex challenges including high temperatures, extreme cold, heavy snow, and the transportation of large equipment. Through scientific organization, refined management, and coordinated efforts, the team maintained a close focus on safety and quality and made every effort to ensure construction progress, ultimately achieving the grid-connection target in only eight months, demonstrating efficient project execution capabilities.
After the Bairin Right Banner project is fully put into operation, it is expected to generate approximately 880 million kWh of electricity annually and save standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 696,000 tons per year. It is of great significance for optimizing the regional energy structure, protecting the grassland ecological environment, promoting local economic and social development, and advancing the green and low-carbon energy transition.
