Recently, the sand dredger contracted by Northwest Institute was successfully launched. The project is located in the 4,500-meter-high-altitude area of Golog Prefecture, Qinghai Province. It is currently the highest-altitude sand dredger project in China and also the country's first innovative practice of using a sand dredger for tailings cleanup.
The 1,400 cubic meter per hour plateau-type mining vessel built this time takes "green environmental protection, intelligent efficiency" as its core highlights. It adopts a 10 kV shore power supply mode on board and is equipped with core systems such as a crown-type environmentally friendly cutter suction head, a plateau-type high-power slurry pump, a variable-frequency motor, a transformer, and winch positioning piles, fully adapting to complex high-altitude working conditions and achieving a dual breakthrough in environmental protection and efficiency. The project integrates high-altitude operation, high technical standards, and a high level of intelligence, with construction difficulty reaching a new high among similar projects in the industry.
After the project was launched, Northwest Institute quickly formed a professional and efficient construction team. Facing the extremely harsh environment of thin air and winter temperatures of minus 20 degrees Celsius in the high-altitude area, project team members overcame difficulties and shouldered heavy responsibilities, not only challenging their physical limits but also breaking through the limits of project construction. In only 100 days, they efficiently completed the entire process of vessel design, construction, transportation, assembly, and launching, winning high praise from the owner and setting a new industry speed for high-altitude vessel project construction.
