On November 23, the Bengui Highway Project in the Republic of the Congo undertaken by PowerChina Municipal Company passed temporary acceptance and officially entered the warranty period, marking the formal commissioning of this important transport artery connecting regional economic development and people's livelihoods.

The main construction scope of the project comprised a newly built 25.5 km two-way, two-lane asphalt road from Bengui to Songo and the remediation of the eroded section of the Songo road. The project is the first milestone project among the 341 key works in the Republic of the Congo's National Development Plan (PND) 2022-2026. Upon completion, it has become an important corridor linking Kouilou Province to Gabon, and will promote integrated rural electrification development in the region and improve local transport conditions.

During construction, the project faced multiple challenges: extensive swamps along the route accounted for more than one-third of the entire construction line, qualified road-building materials were extremely scarce, and the long rainy season severely constrained construction; meanwhile, poor material transport, funding pressure and cultural differences also continuously tested the project team. The project consistently adhered to the concept of refined construction and applied it throughout every link of project management. Through scientific scheduling of the construction plan, the dry-season window was cleverly utilized to concentrate resources for intensive construction; through in-depth field surveys, an alternative source of replacement fill material for the swamp areas was successfully found, and the mix design was optimized to effectively control costs while ensuring quality.

Passing temporary acceptance not only means the main works comply with design and specification requirements, but also affirms the Municipal Company's international project performance capability and tenacious, hard-working spirit. The completion of the highway will greatly enhance regional connectivity and pave a broad avenue for local socioeconomic development. At the acceptance ceremony, a representative of the Republic of the Congo government affirmed the project team's performance capability and hard-working spirit, praising it for "delivering a highway of solid quality even under harsh conditions and demonstrating admirable professionalism." The handover of the project further consolidated PowerChina Municipal Company's good reputation in Africa's infrastructure sector and laid a solid foundation for continued market expansion in the future.
