Recently, at the site of a key open-pit coal mine fire-extinguishing project in western China, Shantui SK120-G mining wide-body dump trucks are steadily and efficiently participating in the mine stripping operation, thanks to their outstanding performance and reliable operating capability, providing solid support for the safe, environmentally friendly, and efficient advancement of the project.

The project is located in a high-altitude area on the southern slopes of the Tianshan Mountains and is a typical plateau open-pit coal mine treatment project. The fire zone treatment area exceeds 850,000 square meters, and the stripping volume is as high as 96.52 million cubic meters, with heavy construction tasks and urgent schedule requirements. Since construction began in April 2025, Shantui has provided a total of 27 SK120-G mining wide-body dump trucks and supporting excavator equipment, undertaking the main stripping and hauling tasks.

Facing the high-intensity operating requirements of continuous operation for 20 hours and annual working hours exceeding 6,000 hours, the Shantui SK120-G, with its golden powertrain system composed of a Weichai engine, Fast gearbox, and Hande axle, still demonstrates strong climbing ability and efficient hauling capability under the plateau's complex terrain and gravel-soil road conditions. The vehicle's flat-load volume reaches 45 m³, the heaped capacity exceeds 50 m³, and the average speed on heavy-load uphill grades can reach 13 km/h, greatly improving transport efficiency per unit time.

To ensure high equipment availability and extend service life, Shantui has worked closely with the project owner to pre-position key spare parts and upgrade the materials used for the dump body plates—the bottom and rear plates use high-strength NM400 wear-resistant steel with thicknesses of 16 mm and 14 mm respectively, ensuring the vehicles remain sturdy and durable even under high-temperature and high-impact conditions.

Operators generally report that the SK120-G is flexible to control, with a well-sealed cab and comfortable seats, offering a driving experience superior to similar products. "Strong power, low fuel consumption, large payload, and fast speed" has become the unanimous assessment of drivers and customers. At present, the average availability of the vehicles remains at around 95%, ensuring the on-site construction pace.

This fire-extinguishing project is not only of great significance to local ecological environmental protection and resource security, but also provides a reliable demonstration of Shantui wide-body mining vehicles under extreme working conditions in western China. With stable performance and efficient operation, the SK120-G is winning more customer trust and market recognition, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of Shantui's mining equipment.
