Recently, the Xintanggang West Section River Channel Improvement Project (Dianshan Lake–Beilang West River) in Qingpu District, Shanghai, undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 5 Co., Ltd., passed completion acceptance.

As an important water conservancy backbone project within the Qing-Song Grand Control Area, the project starts from Dianshan Lake in the west and extends to Beilang West River in the east, with a total improvement length of 6,115 meters, covering earthwork, revetment construction, pump gates and bridges, and many other works. During project implementation, difficulties arose one after another: some bank sections conflicted with planned public green spaces and residential areas over land use, and deep foundation pit construction and muddy geological conditions affected project stability. To address the land-use conflicts, the project team decisively optimized the design scheme, adjusting a cumulative revetment length of more than 2,100 meters, completing an additional 162,500 cubic meters of dredging, and finishing all 30,213 square meters of planting within 120 days.

The project is located in the Dianshan Lake–Beilang West River area of Zhujiajiao Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai, in the Jiangnan water town region, which has a humid and suitable climate and a dense river network. According to the river channel improvement and supporting construction plan, it involves three river channel improvement sections, 11 new bridges, 2 pump gates, 7 regulating sluices, 3 culvert gates, and large-area landscaping works. Through river dredging, green planting, and ecological revetment construction, the project has effectively improved the water quality of the regional river network, created an ecological landscape where water and greenery blend, and built a waterfront livable environment for residents. It has not only strengthened the regional water conservancy safety defense line but also injected strong momentum into the construction of Qingpu District as an ecological water town metropolis.
