The Phase II project of Shenzhen Eastern Power Plant, supervised by Shanghai Electric Power Construction, won three honors at the 21st Asian Power Awards—one gold and two silver—namely the Gold Award for Flexible Gas Power Project in Asia, the Silver Award for Combined Cycle Gas Power Project of the Year, and the Silver Award for Fast-Start Energy Project of the Year.

The Asian Power Awards, known as the "Oscars" of the power industry, are organized by the highly influential Asian Power magazine and aim to recognize advanced energy companies and projects that have taken effective and innovative measures to address climate change and meet growing energy demand.

The Phase II project of the Eastern Power Plant builds two 700 MW-class gas-steam combined cycle units, which were fully completed and put into operation in 2024. The project is China's first single-shaft, top-inlet H-class combined cycle power unit, the first 9H-class gas turbine put into operation by Shenzhen Energy Group, the first 9H-class gas turbine put into operation in Shenzhen, and also the first 9H-class gas turbine unit under the four-party energy supply guarantee agreement among the Guangdong Provincial Energy Administration, Shenzhen Municipality, Shenzhen Energy Group, and Guangdong Power Grid. After commissioning, its annual power generation will account for about 4.1% of Shenzhen's annual electricity consumption, further meeting the growth in power demand in the Shenzhen area and injecting strong new green momentum into the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
