Recently, the Jieyang Huilai Shibeishan Wind Power EPC project undertaken by Henan Engineering Company officially commenced construction. This marks the entry of the 200 MW wind power capacity expansion and renovation project, with a total investment of 1.35 billion yuan, into the substantive construction phase, which will inject new momentum into the efficient utilization of wind energy resources and the development of green industries in the eastern Guangdong region.
The Shibeishan Wind Farm is one of China's first batch of wind power concession projects. Since achieving full-capacity operation in 2007, it has operated safely for nearly 20 years and has cumulatively contributed more than 2.6 billion kWh of clean electricity, witnessing the complete course of China's wind power industry from technology introduction to independent innovation. In recent years, with the rapid iteration of China's wind power technology, the original 167 old turbines with a unit capacity of 600 kW can no longer meet the demand for efficient utilization of wind energy resources—this capacity expansion and renovation is precisely an "efficiency revolution" for this "wind power veteran."
According to the renovation plan, the project will demolish the Banmei 110 kV booster station and build a new 110 kV booster station on the original site, while deploying two 120 MVA main transformers to provide power collection and transmission support for the newly added 14 units of 13.6 MW and one unit of 10 MW ultra-large-capacity wind turbines. After the renovation is completed, the unit power of the Shibeishan Wind Farm will increase tenfold, with a total installed capacity of 200 MW and an estimated annual on-grid electricity of 480 million kWh, which can meet the annual electricity demand of approximately 380,000 households. At the same time, the project's intensive renovation scheme of "one new turbine replacing ten old ones" will free up about 50,000 square meters of land space, providing a replicable solution for "tapping the potential of existing assets" at old wind farms in coastal areas; the simultaneously constructed 20 MW/40 MWh energy storage system will further improve the wind power consumption rate and power supply stability, thereby achieving a leap in multiple benefits.
As the renovation project progresses, this "wind farm veteran" that has witnessed the development history of China's wind power will continue to contribute to the green development of Guangdong and coastal areas with the new image of an "efficiency vanguard," becoming a typical practice of new quality productive forces in the energy sector.
