Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China officially announced the 2025 funding list for the Young Scientists Fund Program (Category B),and the project "Ultra-Soft Soil Treatment and Soft Soil Dynamics" applied for by Professor Shi Li of our school was awarded funding. The Category B project of the National Natural Science Foundation Young Scientists Fund is a key component in the construction of China's high-level scientific research talent echelon, and its core mission is to accelerate the cultivation and development of a group of outstanding young academic leaders who have entered the world's scientific and technological frontier.
Shi Li, Professor at the School of Civil Engineering, doctoral supervisor, recipient of the National Natural Science Foundation Young Scientists Category B project, selected for the provincial talent program, serves as Vice Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology of Zhejiang University of Technology, Deputy Director of the Industrial Technology Transformation and Promotion Center, and Executive Dean of the Taizhou Zhejiang University of Technology Coastal Soft Soil Intelligent Construction Research Institute. He has presided over 2 General Projects and 1 Young Scientists Project of the National Natural Science Foundation, 3 special topics of National Key R&D Program projects, 1 provincial key fund project, and 14 projects commissioned by leading enterprises in the industry; has been granted 10 invention patents; participated in the compilation of 2 group standards; and won one Second Prize of the Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Award (ranked 1st), one Second Prize of the Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked 8th), and one Second Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Highway and Transportation Society (ranked 5th). As first/corresponding author, he has published 6 papers in the three top journals of geotechnical engineering (Géotechnique, Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, and Canadian Geotechnical Journal), and has published a total of 42 SCI/EI papers as first/corresponding author. Main research achievements: the energy consumption theory of vacuum preloading consolidation for mud foundation and energy-saving and efficient vacuum preloading technology; the dynamic response analysis theory of soft soil foundation induced by rail transit and environmental vibration control methods; deformation analysis methods of soft soil foundation under cyclic dynamic loading and disaster control technology for soft foundations. In recent years, our school has focused on the fields of "low-carbon" renewable energy infrastructure construction, green transportation infrastructure construction and intelligent management and maintenance, building industrialization and intelligent construction, and new materials for engineering structures and ecological construction. Closely centering on the national strategies of "dual carbon," "new infrastructure," and "transportation powerhouse" as well as the relevant needs of Zhejiang in building a strong province of civil engineering and architecture, we implement the development strategy of "innovation leadership, strengthening advantages, differentiated development, and key breakthroughs." We focus on strengthening cooperation with leading enterprises and institutions in the industry to achieve major scientific and technological achievements; based in Zhejiang and radiating across the country, we build a high-level platform for the research, development, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements; centering on the core elements of discipline construction, we build a training system for outstanding innovative talents with distinctive regional characteristics; and we continue to build a first-class teaching team with core competitiveness, comprehensively enhance the competitiveness and overall strength of the disciplines, and achieve major breakthroughs.
