On September 25, with a construction blast at the Sanheng main tunnel of the Tuole Tunnel, the excavation of the Tuole Tunnel, the longest tunnel on the Panxing Railway, surpassed the 9,000-meter mark, marking a new breakthrough in tunnel construction across the entire line and indicating that construction of the full Panxing Railway section is proceeding in an orderly manner.
The Tuole Tunnel has a total length of approximately 13,317 meters and a maximum burial depth of about 513 meters. The tunnel passes beneath the existing Weihong Railway. The surface strata at the construction site are complex, including coal-bearing strata, bedding-parallel biased-pressure sections, and zones of strong karst development, and the tunnel also crosses the Jinjia Coal Mine area. Construction is highly difficult and safety risks are high, making it one of the key and difficult projects in the construction of the Panxing Railway.

According to reports, in order to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient progress of Tuole Tunnel construction, the construction team planned scientifically and organized meticulously, adopting a method of simultaneous excavation at multiple work points, with on-site construction divided into five work areas—the entrance, the exit, and cross passages No. 1 to No. 3—and eight tunnel faces. In response to the characteristics of the tunnel, the Panzhou Command Center and the project department adopted advanced geological forecasting measures to predict the surrounding rock ahead of the tunnel face and implemented construction measures of "advanced pipe forepoling, frequent measurement, early closure, short advance, and strong support" to ensure safe and efficient progress of the project.

It is understood that during construction, the Panzhou Command Center actively coordinated and communicated with government agencies along the route and established a joint creation and co-construction mechanism with the construction unit and the station and depot units involved in the new line. It innovatively applied a construction scheme combining curtain grouting + long pipe roof with mechanical excavation inside the tunnel, automatic surface monitoring, and newly added inclined shafts, thereby ensuring the transportation safety of the existing line and achieving full-process control of construction.

It is reported that the Panxing Railway, as the last project in Guizhou Province's goal of "high-speed rail in every city," has a total length of approximately 98 kilometers and a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour, with a bridge-tunnel ratio of 90.66%, the highest among Guizhou high-speed railways. After the project is completed and opened to traffic, it will end the history of Xingyi City having no high-speed rail. Guiyang and Xingyi will be reachable within 2 hours, and a 1-to-2-hour high-speed rail transportation circle from Guiyang to the central cities of the province's eight cities (prefectures) will formally take shape, providing convenient travel for the people.
