On September 7, the 2024 China Urban Planning Annual Conference, themed "Beautiful China, Co-building, Co-governance and Sharing," was held in Hefei, Anhui Province. Qin Haixiang, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

　　Qin Haixiang pointed out that cities are important carriers of modernization. Urban planners should earnestly study and comprehend General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on urban work, thoroughly implement the arrangements and requirements of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee, adhere to a people-centered approach, further deepen reform, promote the establishment of new mechanisms for urban planning, construction and governance, establish sustainable urban renewal models and policies and regulations, systematically advance the construction of "four good"—good housing, good residential compounds, good communities and good urban districts—and do a good job in the protection and inheritance of urban and rural historical and cultural heritage in the new era.

　　Qin Haixiang emphasized that deepening urban planning reform and improving the urban planning system require more in-depth, more refined and more scientific planning and design and methods and means. Urban planners should accelerate the transformation of planning and design concepts, approaches and methods, promote reform and innovation, and open up new prospects for urban planning and design.

　　Qin Haixiang expressed the hope that the Urban Planning Society of China will continue to build the platform of the China Urban Planning Annual Conference, bring the most cutting-edge theories and the most vivid practices to the annual conference, carry out in-depth high-level academic discussions and exchanges, and continuously improve the level of urban planning, construction and governance work.
