A New Yellow River Bridge Is About to Begin Construction

According to the official WeChat account of Henan Daily, the franchise operation project for the reconstruction of the Erxian Line of National Highway 208 (Erenhot to Xichuan) within the Mengjin area of Luoyang (including the approach roads of the new Yellow River highway-railway bridge) is about to be launched. The construction content includes the reconstruction works and the demolition of the existing Yellow River bridge on National Highway 208.

The Erxian Line of National Highway 208 is an important north-south corridor of the national highway network. With regional economic development, the existing roads and bridges can no longer meet traffic demand.

The project will build approach roads for the new Yellow River highway-railway bridge, with a total length of about 17.571 kilometers, a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour, a construction standard of a two-way six-lane first-class highway, and a subgrade cross-section width of 33 meters; the existing road section will be reconstructed, with a total length of about 20.979 kilometers, a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour, a construction standard of a two-way six-lane first-class highway, and a subgrade cross-section width of 33 meters; the existing Yellow River bridge will be demolished to make room for the new Yellow River highway-railway bridge.

At present, the project has entered the preliminary preparation stage. Related work such as survey, design, and bidding is proceeding in an orderly manner. It is expected that formal construction will start by the end of 2024, and the project will be fully completed and open to traffic by the end of 2027.
