This symposium arranged a total of 4 keynote reports, 16 specially invited reports, 1 dialogue between guests from both sides of the strait, and 28 group reports. Similar to previous sessions, in order to continue the fine tradition of cross-strait exchange, the Deep Foundation and Underground Space Engineering Branch of the China Construction Industry Association and the Geotechnical Technology Research and Development Foundation each published a two-volume proceedings, highlighting the unique characteristics and scientific research exploration of both sides in the field of geotechnical engineering/geotechnical technology. These two proceedings each had many highlights and complemented each other, jointly building a brilliant academic treasure trove. It is believed that through such academic exchange, more thinking and inspiration will surely be stimulated, promoting greater breakthroughs and progress in geotechnical engineering/geotechnical technology across the Taiwan Strait.

Emerging Topics, Arousing Deep Significance

The topics covered in this symposium were broad and forward-looking, including ground treatment, reinforcement and soil improvement; foundation engineering under natural disasters: damage, monitoring and treatment; lifting, relocation and inclination correction of buildings (structures); environmental impact and intelligent detection of urban underground engineering construction; integration, digitalization and informatization of urban underground engineering construction; intelligence and remote control of geotechnical engineering machinery, etc. The topics of the conference covered the hottest issues in the field of geotechnical engineering, bringing brand-new academic perspectives and ways of thinking to experts, scholars and industry professionals. It is precisely these unique topic arrangements that injected infinite appeal into this symposium.

Arduous Exploration, Forging Ahead

Xu Ronglie, former Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, in the "Sixth Dr. Chen Dousheng Memorial Lecture," with a vivid presentation titled "Arduous Exploration, Forging Ahead," demonstrated for us that as a researcher and practitioner in the field of geotechnical engineering, one not only bears the responsibility of promoting industry development but must also seize unprecedented opportunities and challenges; the field of geotechnical engineering needs more efficient, environmentally friendly and intelligent solutions.

Cross-Strait Cooperation, Seeking Common Development

The construction industry is a pillar industry of our national economy; it not only relates to the infrastructure construction of the country and region but also directly affects people's production and life. Geotechnical and foundation engineering is an indispensable and important part of construction engineering. Focusing on the biggest challenges currently faced by geotechnical engineering/geotechnical technology; future development trends and needs; transformation of scientific research investment and industrialization; application of artificial intelligence and big data and formulation of policies and regulations and other hot issues, the "Cross-Strait Guest Dialogue" session, co-hosted by President Zhang Jinxun and Chairman Lin Tingfang, invited ** experts and scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait: Gong Xiaonan, Academician of Zhejiang University; Wang Weidong, Master of East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd.; Gao Wensheng, Director of the Institute of Foundation Engineering of the China Academy of Building Research; Li Lianxiang, Professor of Shandong University; Wang Taidian, Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering of National Taiwan University; He Shugen, Chief Engineer of Fuguo Technical Engineering Co., Ltd.; Su Dingjun, Deputy General Manager of Asia New Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd.; Li Shunmin, Chairman of the Geotechnical Technology Research and Development Foundation, and other distinguished guests, who engaged in a exchange and collision of wisdom, painting a magnificent blueprint for the future of geotechnical engineering!

Joint Declaration, Exploring the Future Together

This symposium continued the fine tradition of cross-strait exchange. During this symposium, geotechnical engineering/geotechnical technology experts from both sides of the strait conducted in-depth discussion and experience exchange on "Ground Treatment · Risk Control · Green Geotechnical Engineering · Digital Geotechnical Engineering," which is believed to make significant contributions to the safety prevention and maintenance of geotechnical engineering/earth engineering in the future. The development of geotechnical engineering/earth engineering is closely related to the fields of environment, geology, and ecology; previous engineering experience and research results should be continued as the foundation for future research and development, moving forward. We can no longer neglect disasters caused by climate change and earthquakes; energy conservation and low carbon, risk management and control, pioneering and innovation, and sustainable development have become technical challenges of geotechnical engineering/earth engineering and are also focuses that must be continuously addressed.

Both sides, inheriting the spirit of carrying forward the past and opening up the future, commit to continuing to promote cross-strait geotechnical engineering/geotechnical technology exchange in the future, and to working together with relevant professional groups in academia, investigation, design, construction and engineering equipment manufacturing and with peers in various fields across the strait to do their utmost to enhance the development of geotechnical engineering/geotechnical technology and serve society. In addition to continuing to hold exchange symposiums and strengthening the collection and exchange of literature such as journals and academic proceedings, they will continue to promote substantive cooperation between the two sides in academic exchange and engineering technology, and advocate that cross-strait academic and enterprise cooperation be aligned with world technology.‍
