Recently, Zhongwu Station, the largest semi-covered excavation station on Shenzhen Metro Line 12, successfully topped out.

Zhongwu Station is located along the Zhongwu-Huangtian section of National Highway 107 and features a two-level underground platform with two island platforms and three tracks. The station is approximately 597 m long in total and about 40 m wide at its widest point, and was constructed using the semi-covered excavation method. A total of 340,000 m² of earth was excavated, 14,886 t of rebar was used, and 64,763 m³ of concrete was poured. Overcoming numerous difficulties, it is rightly regarded as one of the "most hardcore stations on Line 12."

Zhongwu Station is located beside the Zhongwu-Huangtian section of National Highway 107, one of the ten busiest highways in the country, making traffic diversion during construction extremely difficult. Without closing the road, traffic diversion was carried out in three stages. In addition, constrained by site conditions, the on-site road was at one point compressed to just over 3 m wide, making material transport extremely inconvenient.

In addition, multiple utility lines around the station, including power lines, communication lines, and stormwater and sewage pipes, could not be relocated in time or did not meet the conditions for relocation. After repeated deliberation by technical personnel, the construction technique of "one trench, two cages" was ultimately adopted, using steel pipe suspension protection, which ensured the normal operation of the utility lines without delaying the simultaneous progress of the project.

Metro Line 12 starts at Zuopaotai Station in Nanshan District and runs from south to north through the Nanshan central area, Bao'an central area, Fuyong area, and the Greater Airport and Convention and Exhibition areas, ending at Haishang Tianyuan East Station in Bao'an District.

The line is approximately 40.6 km long in total and is fully underground; it has 33 stations, including 18 interchange stations.

As of now, 99% of the enclosure structures for stations along the entire line have been completed, and 72% of the main structures have been completed.

Among these, 45 shield tunneling launches have been carried out, 81% of shield tunneling work has been completed, 25 sections have been holed through, and 19 stations have topped out.
