New Nangang Bridge Built by China Railway 11th Bureau Group Opens to Traffic
The main bridge of the New Nangang Bridge alone has more than 120 pier shafts and 647 bored piles, with the deepest bored piles reaching over 80 meters. Even with non-stop round-the-clock construction, it would take at least more than two months to complete a single pile hole. Through research and verification by an expert panel, the project department adopted technical solutions such as layered and staggered-level construction, steel casings for drilling protection, cohesive loess for wall protection, and rubble backfilling, successfully overcoming difficulties in deep-hole pile work such as complex geological conditions, narrow hole spacing, strong vibration, and susceptibility to hole collapse and cross-hole connection. The project department concentrated 78 drilling rigs to start drilling simultaneously, completing the bored pile construction more than two months ahead of schedule and gaining a head start in easing the construction period.
