Quality Control of Welded Connections of Prestressed Concrete Pipe Piles During the Rainy Season
At present, static pile pressing has been widely promoted and applied in pile foundation construction. However, during the welding of pile splices, the weld seams are susceptible to quality defects such as porosity, slag inclusion, and undercut due to factors including the skill level of welders, construction methods, and construction environment. The Village Relocation and Resettlement Community Project Zones A and B for the Zhanjiang Steel Project is located in the northeastern part of Donghai Island, adjacent to the tropical ocean and frequently affected by warm, humid maritime air masses, with high rainfall intensity and abundant precipitation. To ensure the quality of welded connections of prestressed concrete pipe piles during construction, effective measures and methods were adopted in this project to avoid weld quality defects during the welding process of static pressed pipe pile splices. This provided a rapid and effective construction method for welded connections of static pressed piles for the project. It is hereby summarized to serve as a reference for similar projects.
